Maisy’s First Bath!

Yes, this was a family affair!!  Maisy had her first bath, it was a sponge bath since her umbilical cord hasn’t fallen off yet.  I really don’t think she knew what to think.  She wanted to cry, but then when Daddy started washing her hair she looked so relaxed, then she realized it was cold being naked and wet and decided she didn’t like it anymore!  The end product was so worth it, a clean furry-headed little baby that smelled so good…a perfect little cuddle partner.

Ummm does anybody else see those curls??!!  Look a little closer!  Of course it dried straight, but I swear they were there for a second!

Time to gaze into Daddy’s eyes and drift off to dream!

Everyday Life

Since we’ve been home, we’ve been settling in trying to get into the routine of every day life.  And really wishing that every day life meant all four of us getting to be home spending every day together!  We’re thoroughly enjoying this special time we have.

I’ve taken so many pictures of Alan & Maisy’s cuddle time but it’s just so sweet to me!  Alan relaxes her, as soon as he gets his hands on her she looks into his eyes and her eyes get all heavy and before you know it she’s snuggling herself into his chest making herself comfortable.

All of her other naps she takes in her playpen and she sleeps in the bassinet next to me at night, so don’t worry we’re not spoiling her and holding her all day long…but there’s no way I can take her from Daddy when they are both so comfy!  So these moments are the exception to the rule, we’re allowed to have those!

Ryder got a grab-bag of presents from Re-Re for being such a good big brother, he gets to pick one present a day…he loves this so much and looks forward to picking his present.  It makes him feel so special and gives us a chance to tell him each day what a great brother he is being.

He’s a lucky boy…He has some people in his life that care about him so much, we appreciate them more than they know!!  Ryder really is being a great brother though, so he definitely deserves all his little goodies he’s getting (in his grab bag AND all the stuff he came home from the hospital with!).

He loves to put the boppy around him and hold Maisy.  And he always suggests what we should do with her “Momma, we should probably put her in da playpen now!” or “Momma, I stank she wants to swang”.  Then he’ll just randomly come by and check in on her.  We’ve only had one incident where he was singing to her, which always means he waves his hand all around and he got to close to her face and hit her with his fingers.  She cried which made him cry but it was an accident so we all recovered just fine!

Yesterday Maisy had her first doctors appointment so I got to dress her in her first leaving the house outfit, which was a size Newborn and it barely fit!  The appointment went well, she had lost 10% of her birth weight before we left the hospital and was down to 7lbs 10oz.  So they wanted to make sure she gained once my milk came in, which she did, she was up to 7lbs 13.5oz yesterday.  She has already grown to 22 inches and her head is 1cm bigger already too!  They checked her Jaundice levels again and are supposed to be calling me today with the results. They were borderline when we left the hospital, hopefully they are normal now. **Update since I forgot to post this earlier…they called and said they LOST her bloodwork!  We had to pack up the car and take her to the hospital to get her blood taken because they needed to know the level today since this is the day that Jaundice peaks.  Luckily it was normal and we were sent home…**

We had our first visitors at home lastnight.  CJ, Angela, and Carter came over and brought us dinner which was SO nice!  I’m trying not to “overdo” things, so having dinner delivered was greatly appreciated :)  But trying to play with the boys and keep them from fighting over sharing was a little overwhelming, I ended up picking Ryder up at one point out of instinct which HURT and now I’m extra sore today, so I need to remember to not do things like that!

I’m healing well though, every day I feel a little better, but the healing process is definitely slower this time around.  They said it would be since this is my second c-section, plus I’m at home with a toddler and it’s hard not to do things for him.  But Alan has been like Super Dad around here this week and I appreciate him SO MUCH for everything he’s doing to lighten my load!

So…that’s every day life for us right now…

We’re Home!

We were discharged from the hospital around 11:00 this morning and it felt so good to get out of there and be on our way home!  We had a wonderful hospital stay, the nurses were all wonderful, and it was nice to have the nursery staff available when we needed to rest…but we were definitely ready to get home and start living life as a family of 4!

Maisy seemed to love the car ride, she slept the whole entire way home, even through us stopping to get my prescriptions filled and pick up something for lunch.  Once we got home we all rested before Big Brother made his BIG Appearance!  I know he was SO excited to get to come home today and be with all of us again, so I was totally prepared for his energy level to be high.  And high it was:

Before he put on this show, he had us bring her to all different places in the house…of course he wanted her to lay in her crib that he has spent so much time making just perfect for her:

He wanted to lay in there with her, but we figured the floor would be a better place for us to facilitate this, so to the floor we went:

Then he wanted her to watch Blue’s Clue’s with him, so we set her up in her very own “Thinking Chair”!

152

So we’ve spent the evening just figuring out what our new normal will be like.  Maisy is eating great and sleeping in between or spending time in the playpen.  (I know you guys are looking at these next few pictures thinking…so much for not liking all the pink!  haha, what can I say, it looks good on her!)

Ryder is so excited to have her home and everything is going very smooth.  Hopefully our first night at home won’t be too eventful!  A nice peaceful night filled with lots of sleep would be wonderful…okay I won’t press my luck!

More Moments with Maisy

I can’t even put into words how much we are enjoying our sweet little girl.  She’s so soft and cuddly, we just can’t get enough of her!

Yesterday she seemed a little restless throughout the day and was getting frustrated easily with diaper changes and breastfeeding attempts.  Being awake most of the day has caught up with her though and she has been so sleepy all through the evening, night and this morning (as she snoozes on Daddy’s chest right now!)  Which meant Mommy & Daddy got some really good sleep lastnight too.

I got out of bed yesterday and started moving around.  By the afternoon I was able to get in the shower and take a few walks (with very small steps) around the Family Birth Place.

We put Maisy in her very first outfit yesterday!

She got her newborn pictures taken, I can’t wait to see how they turned out.

Maisy’s First Day of Life

Thanks so much to Nicki & Mandi for keeping the blog updated yesterday (I really can’t get over that baby picture comparison…wow!!)  I know there were a lot of people anxiously awaiting the details so thanks to everyone for all the sweet comments and texts!

Yesterday morning was very nerve-wracking as we waited for the surgery to happen and then waited for it to get over with so we could meet our baby girl!  Of course once she entered the world, nothing else seemed to matter.  She made a few noises when she came out, then let out one good cry, then went back to sleep on the table as they cleaned her and weighed her.

Then Daddy got to hold her and I just watched as they had their first little bonding moment together.  I was in surgery from 7:30-9:30 then finally it was off to recovery.  Once settled there, they brought Maisy to me so we could attempt our first breastfeeding.  But not before getting kisses from Yaya & Nana!

Breastfeeding went so well and continued throughout the day & night lastnight, I’m really thankful that she has taken to it so well and I’m loving all the bonding time it gives us together.

Obviously I’m head over heels in love with this little girl, my sweet Maisy!  I don’t think I’m the only one either:

She got lots of visitors yesterday:

Including a very special visit from a very excited “Big Brother In Charge!”

(he’s showing off his muscles because he’s going to protect her he says!)

As soon as he came in the room and saw me holding the baby he started yelling “Maisy comed out! Maisy comed out Momma!”  Then he said “so where is dose presents Maisy got for Ryder?”  LOL so it was on to his special big brother present which he was very excited about and he made an appoint to tell Maisy thank you.  It was nice to have both of our kids together in the same room, and we even got to have our first story time!

And then Ryder got to hold his baby sister for the very first time with help from Nana.

Excuse me for a second while my heart melts!  Once Nana was holding her, he walked over and gave her a few kisses:

And then proceeded to say “okay Nana, give that back to Mama now!”

So that was Maisy’s first day…I hope she feels surrounded by love because she definitely is!

Such a sweet, sweet girl!
