Ryder Funnies

Apparently Me & Alan need to get some new body wash or lotion or something.  Ryder walked into the kitchen the other morning and said “Oh there you are Daddy, I thought I smelled you in here!”  Alan said “You thought you smelled me??  Well what do I smell like??”  Ryder said “Hot dogs!”  The next day it was my turn… “I can smell you Momma”.  Oh gosh.  “You smell me??  Well what do I smell like?”  Ryder said “Eggs!”  Hotdogs & Eggs, aren’t you glad you don’t live with us?!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
His prayers are getting more in depth these days.  Of course I always make sure he prays about the important stuff:
“Dear Jesus, I pray for the 4-wheelers at the 4-wheeler store.  So all the guys and all the boys can get 4-wheelers.  And all the lady’s can get stuff but not 4-wheelers. And that there will be 4-wheelers at the 4-wheeler store.  And that if we don’t want one we can just go back home. Amen.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

He has started calling us names when we’re doing something he doesn’t like.  The other morning I went in to wake him up and he said “Get away from me DRAGON!!”

He was working really hard the other day on building a masterpiece with his blocks, of course Maisy saw this as the perfect opportunity to go bother him.  “Get away from me DISTRACTION!!!  Momma get Maisy away she’s being a distraction!!”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When Ryder was sick a couple weeks ago and I took him to the Doctor, she needed to listen to his heart with her stethoscope.  He was wearing his shirt that has a snow monster on it, so when the Doctor said “Okay Ryder I just need to listen to your monster” he FREAKED…you all know why.  I couldn’t even bring myself to tell her why he was screaming “Noooooo, Don’t touch my monster!!!!”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Ryder: (frustrated about something) What the FACK!

Me: Ummmm what did you just say???

Ryder: I said what the fack.

Me: What is a fack??

Ryder: I guess it’s something like a bat.

Me: Okay well then next time why don’t you say “What the BAT”.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As you know, no topic is off limits with this boy, so of course he has asked where he came from.  One great thing about having a c-section: that whole story is so much easier to explain!!
Me: Well you were in Mommy’s tummy and when it was time for you to be born the Doctor just cut you out!
Ryder: But I don’t want the Doctor to cut me out!  I was swimming in your tummy with Maisy and I wanted him to just shake me out!
Me: Well he couldn’t shake you out, so he cut Mommy’s tummy and pulled you out and we were so happy to get to meet you.
Ryder: Where did he cut your tummy at?
I showed him.  He ran out of the room.
He came right back though, with an Angry Birds band-aid!  *So Sweet*
8 Months!
 043
I’m not quite sure what happened to my sweet calm girl, but she sure has turned into quite the wild child this month!  When I say she is all over the place, I really mean it…like all.over.the.place.  I could barely capture a normal monthly picture this month!
002
026 So besides trying to climb away and make her great escape from me, here is what she’s up to this month:
  • She weighs 16 pounds 10 ounces, wears mostly size 6-9 month clothes, size 3 diapers, and size 2 shoes.
  • She eats stage 2 & 3 baby foods and has tried some different table food this month, like peas, cheetoh’s, biscuits, and crackers.  One thing we’ve learned is that she has a very sensitive gag reflex!  She has thrown up 3 times now just from gagging when something touches the back of her throat.
  • She drinks 6 ounce bottles of formula throughout the day, I can’t wait until the formula phase is over, bring on the milk!  She drank out of a straw for the first time this month, of course the liquid hitting the back of her throat made her gag!
  • She’s learning how to fight back with her big brother.  He loves to snatch things from her and she has recently started snatching them right back!  She lives in survival mode, this girl is going to be so tough.
  • She is crawling, pulling up, climbing, starting to cruise along things, transfer from one place to another, and is doing a lot of crashing!
  • She puts every thing in her mouth.  Do you know how scary it is to have a toddler who puts nothing away and a baby who searches for things to shove in her mouth?!
  • She still sleeps from 7pm to 5-6am and takes 2 naps throughout the day.
  • Still no teeth…big brother got his first ones at 9 months, so maybe she’s taking after him and we’ll see one pop through in the next month!
  • She said MAMA!!!!  Man, that should have been the #1 fact this month.  She will only say it in the evening when she’s tired, crawling around mad that no one will pick her up, she starts saying “maaaaamaaaaa.  maaaamaaaa”  So I purposely don’t pick her up, of course.
  • She has started giving kisses this month.  It’s a very serious process to her.  She gets her serious face on, leans in very slowly, mouth wide open, and plants one on you as she gazes into your eyes.  Sweet girl :)
I love everything she brings into our lives…fun, excitement, sweetness, re-living all of these baby stages, all of it.  Well maybe I could live without all of the danger, but I’m starting to breathe and get used to it.
Fearless
That’s the only word I can use to describe this next sequence of pictures:
I feel like I’ve been following Maisy around like the paparazzi all weekend long, taking pictures of her pulling up and climbing on things.  It’s just amazing to me how un-afraid she is to try these things!  She falls, cries about it for a minute, then goes right back and does the same thing over and over again.  What’s also funny to me is how I can see God’s sense of humor in this.  Giving ME, the hypochondriac, a fearless little girl who wants to test every limit and boundary around her.  I can’t even talk about it, I’m about to have an anxiety attack.  Onto more pictures:
Just because she’s so cute:
She just started reaching up for us…ahhh melt my heart (if I can get it to stop beating so fast!).
All I can say is she’s going to be one tough girl.  If not from all the falls she’s taking these days, then most definitely from being treated like this:
There’s never a dull moment.
Valentine Cuties…and then they got sick!
Our Bright-Eyed, playful Valentine’s quickly turned into runny-nosed, fussy little sickly children!  Maisy has just had a runny nose for the past few days, but I knew Ryder had caught something bad when I found him sleeping in the middle of his bedroom floor surrounded by all of his toys at about 6:00 tuesday night.  The poor thing was burning up with a fever.  He stayed home and hung out with Uncle G on Wednesday, but when he still had a fever on Thursday I decided to take him to the doctor.  He has a double ear infection and she said his throat looked pretty raw, plus his fever was 103.1!  So he’s on antibiotics now and things are looking up :)  Maisy’s runny nose went away today but now she has a little cough, so hopefully that doesn’t turn into anything bad.  It figures when the kids are getting better, Momma would get sick.
You all know my favorite thing about having sick babies…they turn into huge cuddle bugs!  I felt so bad for my little guy feeling so bad, but me & daddy definitely took advantage of it by laying around with him, getting all the snuggles we could.  Because as soon as he’s feeling better, he just doesn’t have time for days like this!
There She Goes
Maisy is constantly on the move these days…crawling all over the places as fast as she can!
And pulling up on everything!  She has a stool at Nana & Pap’s house that she basically hangs out at all day long, just standing there leaning on the stool watching all the action.  We came home and I made her a step so she’d have a place to hang out here.  And that’s exactly what she did:
Me & Alan decided to put her crib down as low as it goes the other day…good thing because the very next day she pulled herself up to the bathtub while Ryder was in it!
081
She’ll use anything to pull up…even moving targets, like Bentley!  He’s such a good dog, he tolerates so much from her, probably because he knows how much she loves him.  Unfortunately, pulling up on him gives her about the same results as messing with her other big brother.
She makes me so nervous but I love seeing her be able to get around and show off her independence.
Life These Days
Yup, that pretty much sums it up!  An overly emotional 2 year old…and a mobile 7 month old who has mastered the art of annoying her older brother.  Hey, it makes for great entertainment for us, does that make us bad parents?!
**no babies were injured in the making of this video**
Elijah’s Birthday Party
I can’t believe this little guy is turning 1 already!  He has grown into such a handsome, funny boy and we were so happy to be able to celebrate his 1st Birthday with him.  Happy Birthday Elijah!!
Sundays
I'm posting about Sundays on a Wednesday. Maybe because this week has been so busy that I'm just now getting around to it. Or maybe because its only half way through the week and I'm wishing so bad that it was Sunday instead! Our Sundays have come to be my favorite day of the week...Church and then lunch with the family at the garage. The kids play and get tired out just in time for a nice long nap, which means relaxing time for Mommy & Daddy. Oh how I love Sundays!
This Sunday we had a nice visit from the Vathes family. Madalynn is so cute and absolutely hilarious, it was nice getting to spend time with them.
I never remember to grab my camera, so here are some cell phone pics of our Sundays at Poppy's garage...usually with us, Gregg, Catherine & her girls.
