Ryder’s New Ride

IMG_0361Poppy & Nana bought Ryder his very first car!  On our way home from Church today we stopped by so that he could try it out.  I’d say it was a hit!

IMG_0363 Everyone gives Alan a hard time because he refuses to put a windshield on his motorcycle…so what is the first thing Ryder does to his car, rips off the windshield!  Like Father Like Son :)

IMG_0368 Uh Oh, he has a led foot…must get that from Uncle Gregg!IMG_0371Honking the horn…move people!IMG_0379Getting driving lessons from Daddy!IMG_0383

His favorite part was chewing on the steering wheel, of course!IMG_0388

Thanks for my car Poppy & Nana – I’ll come back over soon so I can play some more!

So Happy at Home

IMG_0281

To follow up from my last post, Ryder is a completely different baby when he is at home.  He is happy, laid back, so comfortable and content.  But, I guess that’s why it’s called home, that’s how home should be!  So here are some pictures of the better part of our weekend, just hanging out at home, enjoying eachothers company.

I Take That Back!!

It’s crazy to me how fast things can change with a baby.  It seems like as soon as something starts to be regular, I open my big mouth and comment on it, and then so quickly I’m taking back my words.  When I say “Ryder is sleeping SO good now” then that night he will wake up in the middle of the night.  When I said “Ryder is eating SO good now” he learned how to blow bubbles when I put the spoon in his mouth.  So someone please tell me why the words “we are so lucky, he hardly ever cries” came out of my mouth?!  I set myself up for this one.  Which brings me to Ryder’s newest phase he’s going through…the mini meltdown.  Now that he is so alert, he’s figuring things out, and is stuck to his routine, and when things are not part of the routine, he has decided that he doesn’t like it.  Which causes this:

IMG_0308 IMG_0391Which means, me or Daddy have to take him to a quiet place and calm him down:

IMG_0312 IMG_0304This is what we have been dealing with this weekend.  He’s just so used to it being quiet, and being around familiar faces, so he just wasn’t feeling the party scene.  All the noise, and so many different people wanting to talk to him and hold him, he didn’t handle it very well.  I read an article about it and they referred to it as “stranger anxiety”, they called it a baby’s first emotional milestone that they hit right about 5 months…right on target!  Hopefully he gets through this phase soon, but in the meantime, if my child sticks his lip out at you, please don’t take it personal!  And also, we need your prayers, I actually let this slip out of my BIG mouth “I’m amazed that Ryder has never gotten sick”….please don’t make me eat my words on this one!

So, we went to Alyssa’s Birthday party on Saturday, and minus the mini meltdowns, we had a good time!

Wake Up Sleepy Head

Ryder has been all about sleeping lately!  All week this week I have had to actually go in and wake him up when I’m done getting ready for work.  This has been a nice change in schedule for me, and I’m excited for the weekend to come so I can see how long this sleepy head would like to stay in bed.  I’ve been taking pictures of my attempts to wake him up in the mornings because I think it’s just so cute.  He stretches and groans and turns his head from side to side then pushes his butt up in the air…all while laughing at Mommy with his eyes closed.

And just because I love pictures of him sleeping…here he is asleep in my arms leaving Grandma’s last Sunday:Ryder 064

Ryder 065Ever since he started sleeping in his crib, that is where he has taken all of his naps too.  But this last Sunday, I needed a cuddle buddy, so I let him take a nap with me in my bed.  I woke up before him and took these pictures as he was waking up:

My Little Sweet Potato

Ryder is doing so good with his veggies!  Tonight we tried sweet potatoes for the first time and he loved them!  Normally he only eats half of a container with rice, but tonight he ate the whole container of sweet potatoes, plus finished his whole bowl of rice.  And here is the end result of that:

After we cleaned up from our sweet potato mess, it was off to the bedroom for play time.  I love to watch him play, and give him a little bit of tummy time.

Everyone always asks what happened to Ryder’s right eye – it’s a birth mark, the Dr. calls it an “Angel Kiss” that’s supposed to fade over time.  People say it looks like he has a black eye, and right now Daddy really does have a black eye, so here’s a picture of my bruisers:

Momma Loves Her Boy!

I had to steal these off of Angela's blog. I never have any pictures of myself with Ryder, since I'm always the one taking the pictures! Luckily Angela snapped these pictures of us together before the party on Saturday.

Our New Roomie

Uncle Gregg (Alan’s twin brother) is going to be living with us for a while.  We spent the weekend clearing out our computer room, and turning it into Uncle G’s new bedroom.  It was past Ryder’s bedtime when we finally finished, but he would not go to sleep until I brought him in to check everything out.

I think Ryder will enjoy having his Uncle around, Mommy just has to set a few ground rules…for example;

Mohawks are okay:

Encouraging obscene gestures, NOT okay:

Wish me luck, this might be a little rough!

Mommy & Me Pool Party

Minus the pool!  Unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate for us, so we weren’t able to have a true pool party, but I’m sure we had just as much fun having the party inside.  It was so nice to get all the Mommy’s and Baby’s from “blog world” together to meet face-to-face.  The day was filled with good food, and lots of conversation, because Mommy’s NEVER run out of things to talk about!  Thanks to Nicki & Mikayla for being such wonderful hostesses, and to Nicki’s mom (who is SO sweet!) for having us all in her home.

Hopefully we can do it again soon :)
