Christmas Quotes

We all know Ryder has lots of funny and interesting things to say, so the Christmas topic opens up a whole new world of things to come out of his mouth.  Here are some quotes for your entertainment:

He makes a sleigh every day out of anything he can think of: blankets, pillows, his rocking horse, so then he IS Santa and he calls his reindeer like Santa. “Go Dasher, Go Dancer, Go Spritzer, and Jackson.  Go Kickzer, Go Blitzer, Go Mister and Go Get-Her.”

We have the Caillou Holiday Movie recorded and that has been one of his favorites to watch, which means he has memorized pretty much the whole movie.  In the movie, Caillou says that Christmas seems so far away.  So one day Ryder told us “Christmas seems so far away, we should get in the car, and drive around and around and then we’ll find Christmas.”

As he went in Poppy & Nana’s snack cabinet one day to help himself to some ho-ho’s…he yelled “MOMMMMM, I know what we can leave for Santa, Ho-Ho’s because that’s what he ALWAYS asks for!!!”

He has a little stuffed Santa he has been insisting on carrying with him everywhere.  He had him in the car the other day and I had a station on that was playing Christmas music.  The song Santa Claus is Coming to Town came on and played for a little while and then I hear Ryder say “Santa, you hear that?  You’re coming to town!”

Of course everywhere we go right now the big question from everyone is “so what did you ask Santa for?”  His answer for the first part of December was “a boat!”  Then about mid-december (after the Caillou Holiday Movie came on) he added “a boat and a space station”.  Now that we are only a few days from Christmas he told Uncle G “I asked for a boat and a space station and my house needs some drums”.  Ohhh, you want drums now too???  “No, just my house needs some.”  (I guess after Christmas I’ll have to inform him that Santa didn’t bring drums because houses don’t ask for things, only boys and girls do!)

Apparently a lot of people have been using the “if you aren’t nice then Santa won’t bring you any presents” line on Ryder (including us…guilty!) so now if I even attempt to correct him our conversation goes something like this: Me - Ryder, stop doing that! Him – Just tell Santa to not bring me any presents.  Just tell him to give them all to Maisy.  Just tell him Maisy can have all my toys and I won’t have any to play with.  Ryder’s not getting noooooo presents for Christmas.  At that point me & Alan usually look at eachother like “uhhhhh….what do we say now??”  I hate when he outsmarts us!

The other day he asked me “Is Mrs. Claus Santa Clauses Momma?”  I said “no buddy, she’s his wife.  I don’t know who his Momma is…”  He said “Oh I know, it must be Frosty the Snowman!”

Alan took Ryder Christmas shopping with him the other day.  I had a feeling this was a bad idea, since Ryder doesn’t keep much to himself, but I thought maybe Alan would tell him enough times not to tell me what they bought that he might listen.  Not so much.  That night when I was putting Ryder’s pajama’s on he said “Momma, we got you some newww pajama’s!  But they’re a present so you can’t have them until Christmas!”  Okay, I got one thing I wanted!  The next morning we were getting ready to leave for the day and I said “Ryder I just have to grab your boots.”  He said “Momma, we got you a newww pair of boots!  But they’re a present so you can’t have them until Christmas!”  Yes, another thing I wanted!!  Love my little spy!

Ryder didn’t even mean for this one to be funny, but I thought it was hilarious.  Doodle came back from the North Pole one day and decided to hang out on our Christmas Tree.  Ryder looked every where for him and then finally found him on the tree.  He said “Mom, you have to take a picture, get your camera.  Okay Doodle, say cheeeeeese.  Cheeeese Doodle!  Cheeeese Doodle!”

Growing Up So Fast!

I really can’t believe how quickly Maisy has grown out of her newborn stage.  She is so alert these days, is coming into her little personality, and just seems so…grown up!

I think sometimes she is forced into survival mode and seems to be doing things way sooner than big brother ever even thought of!  I guess the combination of him having some limitations, and her having to fend for herself when my focus is on him, makes her try to do things faster, like hold her own bottle already!

And sitting up (with support, of course!)

When I carry her around in my wrap, she no longer snuggles up on my chest and relaxes…now she stays turned around the whole time so that she can see every thing that goes on, she doesn’t want to miss one thing!  When I’m vacuuming or sweeping, she has to hold the handle so that she feels like she’s helping!

723 726

She has a little signature pose she does all the time now.  It’s like she can’t decide if she wants to be on her back or tummy, so she goes on her side, props one leg up and looks around to see what’s happening around her.  I guess she gets a better view this way!

She has definitely become more vocal!  She lets you know when she wants some attention and is making noises that sound like Da-Da and Ya-Ya!

This girl is so ready to get moving…she is wiggling, rolling, reaching, spinning, and even trying to start scooting to get where she wants to be!

Did anyone notice a common theme in both of those videos??  It has to do with Big Brother being BAD!  Did you hear him say “I took her toys, tell Doodle!”  What am I going to do with him.  He, too, is growing up so fast…his own post to come soon :)

A Little Get Together

Or maybe it’s called a big get together with lots of little kids!  Remember at the beginning of 2011 when it seemed like everyone around me (including myself) was pregnant?  Here is the partial result of that:

Today we finally got most of our 2011 baby crew together :)

SONY DSC

Remember when the big kids were our baby crew?!  Now it is almost impossible to try to get them in the picture!  This was the best I could do, and gives you a glimpse of just how chaotic group pictures have become.

When the babies are up running around with the big kids, I think us Momma’s are gonna be in BIG trouble!

More Christmas Fun!

Ryder got to go on a Santa Train this weekend with Nana, Miss Debbie, and his friend Christian.

I got the whole event narrated through text messaging.  Here they are on the train going to see Santa & Mrs. Claus!

1210111003-00

I guess after they got on the train to head back, Ryder saw Santa walking and was saying here “Santa, come back, I need you!!”  (he must have forgot to tell him about his newest Christmas request…a space station!)

1210111007-00

Ryder loved riding on a real train, he told me all about driving over the water, and how it’s really loud outside of the train but once you get in it’s fine, and about the conductor and …well you know, he’s pretty much an expert on trains now!

Ohhhhhhhhh DOODLE….

Meet our Elf…on the Shelf!  His name is Doodle.  Well he’s not exactly sitting on a shelf today, he’s hanging by our stockings.  Let me rewind.  Ryder & Maisy got a package at our doorstep the other day, FROM SANTA!!!  He sent this Elf all the way from the North Pole to keep an eye out and make sure they are behaving, because each night he returns to the North Pole to report to Santa.  This is how Santa determines whether they belong on the Naughty list or the Nice list.  He comes back to a new spot in our home each morning, and Doodle sees everything!  (I believe we currently have one child on the naughty list and one on the nice list…just my guess!)

Yes, the naughty kid will still be receiving presents.  Lots of them.  Way more presents than the nice kid.  Hmmm…

OH-WHAT-FUN we’re having with all of these Christmas festivities!  TWO more weeks :)

Maisy & Callie got some “girl time” on Sunday to hang out together and get to know each other.  It’s funny how now they can look at and acknowledge each other.  Won’t be long and they’ll be running all over the place, not even stopping for enough time to take a picture like their big brothers!  Such pretty little girls :)

A Christmas-y Weekend

Saturday morning we went to CJ & Angela’s Church to have breakfast with Santa!  The kids loved it and were both SO happy to see Santa!  No fear over here.  Ryder walked in the door, walked straight to the front of the line and hopped up on stage where Santa was.  I had to do the one arm swoop (you know where you have a baby in one hand but use all the strength in your other arm to grab them by one arm in order to avoid a crisis) and make him wait at the end of the line for his turn.  He obviously had something really important to tell Santa…again…that he really wants a boat for Christmas.  I’m starting to worry that my little Road Rippers boat that plays music isn’t going to suffice.  When he asks for a boat, he is meaning a REAL boat like the ones at Bass Pro Shop, yikes!  If Maisy could walk, I believe she would have been right behind big brother on the bee line straight for Santa.  When she sat on his lap she was all smiles, putting on quite the show up there.

Sunday we asked Angela to take a few family pictures for us.  We tried to get a good shot to use for our Christmas card, but of course it’s so hard to get both kids looking at the same time!  Here’s the cute ones we got :)
